It's winter already??

We have had a beautiful fall; there are a lot of colorful trees and it's been relatively warm. That is until a couple of days ago. We got snow...about an inch and when we drove down the hill yesterday morning there was no snow on the ground in the valley. Apparently the snow didn't stick down there.

This photo was taken this morning. The snow has decided to stick around a bit. Maybe tomorrow it will be all melted off. We'll see...

I really do love living where there are seasons but I have to say my favorite seasons are spring and fall. When it begins to warm up in the spring and the leaves are budding and the purple crocus are popping up it's a reminder that there is new life and growth. The 40 /50 degrees are feeling warm after the mostly freezing temps of winter.

After the summer heat, smoke from surrounding fires, and the danger the fire season,  the cooling of the weather in the fall is refreshing. Although the same temperature that is warming us in the spring feels pretty cold in the fall.

Since winter is actually, not technically, the longest season, I can't say that I'm looking forward to it but it's coming and I have boots, hats, scarves and jackets to get me through.
